The Director General of the IICA participated on Seminar in Buenos Aires. Participants at the event analyzed the contribution of agriculture to climate change mitigation and the manner in which countries of the Southern Cone contribute to improving the net carbon balance of soils.
The forum, which can be accessed at ruralwomen.iica.int, will provide an information- and data-sharing platform to raise awareness about the inequalities faced by these women, in a bid to pave the way for actions that guarantee equity.
The Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Manuel Otero, delivered a presentation during the 49th Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), calling on the organization to serve as a discussion forum for matters related to food and nutrition security on the continent.
Delegates from 18 Latin American and Caribbean countries reviewed standards to be approved by the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Geneva in July.
With support from IICA, phytosanitary services in both countries are advancing in the development of systems to facilitate decision making based on scientific and technical knowledge.
