The Institute will prepare a document that will serve as the basis for discussions on food security to take place within the framework of the OAS General Assembly this year.
Users around the world will be able to participate, along with specialists and public sector managers, in a virtual conference covering the topics of the Rio + 20 agenda, the results of which will be dealt with at the world summit in June.
The Institute is involved in the preparation of an inter-agency document that will demonstrate to the G20 Ministers of Agriculture how innovation can play a key role in guaranteeing food security worldwide.
The Director General of IICA participated in the Forum “Outlook 2012”, organized by the USDA, where he explained that the region’s agriculture requires innovation to fulfill its role as food provider to the world, without over-exploiting its natural resources.
IICA presented to IFAD the lessons learned from a technical assistance program that it is carrying out in Haiti, which emerged as a response to the earthquake two years ago.
