Sustainable development and coffee production will be the first IICA courses that will be made available to diplomats from this Central American country.

San José, 27 May 2019 (IICA). The Manuel María Peralta Diplomatic Institute, which is part of Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign and Religious Affairs, will provide training to its staff via the e-learning platform of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

This is in keeping with an agreement, which was established with a view to sharing good institutional practices in the areas of diplomatic management, telecommunications, and communications management.

Initially, the beneficiaries will be national and international officials of Costa Rica, including diplomats.

The Manuel María Peralta Institute selected two courses for the initial phase— “Acuerdos Globales para el Desarrollo Sostenible y su Implicación en el Sector Agrícola” (Global Agreements for Sustainable Development and their Impact on Agriculture) and La situación y tendencias de la producción de café en Latinoamérica” (Status of and Trends in Latin American Coffee Production)—given that these were considered the most relevant to the functions of a diplomat.

The e-learning platform is managed by IICA’s Center for Knowledge Management and Horizontal Cooperation Services, which has a mission to support and strengthen the capacities of the strategic partners of this international organization.
