IICA and Brazil’s National Water Agency are offering three free online courses in Spanish that will begin next month.

Registrations close on July 21.

San Jose, Costa Rica, July 11, 2013 (IICA). Basic hydrology, Water quality in reservoirs and Watershed planning and management are the titles of the three courses for which registration is now open as part of the integrated water management activities that IICA is promoting with sponsorship from Brazil’s National Water Agency (ANA).

The partnership between the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the ANA is a reflection of the importance that IICA attaches to the issue of water, which will be the theme of the Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas 2013, scheduled to take place in Argentina in September.

Registrations close on July 21. The courses will run from August 5 to September 15. The 40-hour distance courses are free and in Spanish.

If you are interested in taking part, the first step is to create an account at http://www.aguaegestao.com.br/pt-br/user/register.

Once you have a username and password, go to www.aguaegestao.com.br, select the course in which you are interested, fill out the registration form and answer the question “Why is this course important for you?”

IICA has promoted registration for other ANA courses related to the management of water in agriculture, and is in the process of drafting a technical document to be used as the basis for the construction of a hemispheric agenda for integrated water resources management.

The proposal will be presented at the Ministerial Meeting in September.
