The implementation of the European Union funded PAGoDA Contract BAN/2017/390-022-“Productivity enhancement of banana farms through integrated soil fertility management in the banana belt area of Belize” project, is under the direct responsibility of the IICA Belize Delegation.  As an Institution oriented to results, the Secretariat of Planning and Evaluation (SEPE) unit located at Headquarters in Costa Rica, conducted a one-week monitoring and evaluation exercise of the current implementation of the project.

The objective of the exercise was to speak firsthand with the directly involved stakeholders and beneficiaries, and to cross-reference the implemented activities with the proposed work plan.  The two specialist from SEPE conducted scheduled interviews with representatives from the European Union, Ministry of Agriculture, University of Belize, Banana Growers Association, farm managers and visited several of the participating farms to view the works accomplished.  A detailed report of this exercise and the overall implementation of the project will be prepared by the team.
