Field schools provide a methodological instrument for the multiplication of knowledge in the agricultural sector

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, May 2019 (IICA). On the morning of Thursday, May 23, the Manual of Field Schools adapted to the Dominican Republic was launched by the Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development (CEDAF), with the support of the Department of Agriculture of the United States (USDA) and the Export Quality Program executed by the International Executive Service Corps (IESC).

With this launch, the experiences of the field schools of five agricultural chains (pineapple, avocado, cocoa, vegetables and livestock), as a methodological instrument to continue replicating and making available, are made available to the organizations of producers and institutions of the Agricultural Sector transferring knowledge to producers.

The opening words were in charge of Janina Segura, Executive Director of CEDAF, who expressed the value of this manual for the experiences collected in the field and urged all those present to put this instrument to good use.

Mr. José Walter Torres, author of the Manual of Field Schools, gave a brief account of the experiences compiled in the manual as a result of the field implementation of the manual with organizations of the agricultural chains described above. In this same intervention also thanked the institutions of the Agricultural Sector, including the Office of IICA-RD, all the support and collaboration provided to the implementation of this methodology and thus be able to contribute to the strengthening of the production of agricultural chains of the Dominican Republic.
