“Safety and quality should be the factors that generate a difference in Dominican agro-food exports,” said Mr. Frank Lam, IICA Representative in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, December 2018 (IICA).  As part of the national agenda of the Government of the Dominican Republic in the year of Promotion of Exports, the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) held on Thursday, December 6, the National Day of the Exporter.

This event, whose main objective was to highlight the contribution made by the export sector, especially the agro-exporter sector, to the national economy, both in the generation of wealth, employment and social stability, had the active participation of IICA among the various programmed activities.

Mr. Daniel Rodríguez, International Trade specialist, shared the main achievements and contributions that IICA has made over the past years in the promotion of agri-food exports to the main destination markets for these products, mainly: United States of America, Canada and the European Union.

During his speech, Mr. Rodriguez listed not only the success stories of these export enterprises, where IICA played an important role in strengthening the technical and commercial capacities of the companies, but also the strengths and benefits of the methodology applied by IICA in the «Export Platforms».

IICA is expected to collaborate with CEI-RD in strengthening the entrepreneurial capacities of the associative companies that benefit from the various public programs, and that seek to improve their competitiveness to insert themselves in regional and international markets.
