IICA presented its work agenda to the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, December 2018 (IICA). In response to an express request from Mr. Osmar Benítez, Minister of Agriculture, IICA and FAO convened a meeting for members of the cooperation and donors’ agencies community of the Dominican Republic’s agricultural sector on Thursday, December 13 at the Ministry´s office.
Among the topics discussed, Minister Benítez shared the three pillars of his administration: 1. Agricultural Health and Food Safety, 2. Food Security and Sovereignty, and 3. Promotion of Agricultural Exports.
Likewise, the cooperation and donors’ agencies shared their main projects, activities and initiatives that are being implemented during the current year, as well as the work plans for 2019.
Finally, Minister Benítez requested the agencies to coordinate their work agendas with the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as with the 22 autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions that, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, lead the Dominican agricultural sector.
