IICA Attended the Belize First Annual Banana Festival

The Delegation of IICA in Belize participated in the First Annual Banana Festival

Neftali Galicia, project assistant at IICA Belize, attended the festival.

San Juan, Belize. June 21, 2018 (IICA). On June 15 and 16, the Delegation of IICA in Belize participated in the First Annual Banana Festival promoting the project “Productivity enhancement of banana farms through integrated soil fertility management in the banana belt area of Belize”.

The event was organized by San Juan Bosco Roman Catholic School under the theme “Bananas! The bunch that builds the South” and took place at San Juan football field in San Juan Village. The festival objective was to highlight the history and benefits of the banana industry, as well as the variety of food that can be prepared from this fruit. It also helped to raise funds for the construction of a brand-new four concrete classroom building for the school.

Organizations such as Banana Growers Association, Belize Agriculture Health Authority, Belagro Agriculture, Big Creek Group, Bravo Motors, Citrus Product of Belize, Love FM, Fyffes, Project Management Services Limited and Smart Communications also attended the festival.
