Integrated Soil Fertility Management Training

The design and implementation of the PAGoDA Contract BAN/2017/390-022-“Productivity Enhancement of Banana Farms through Integrated Soil Fertility Management in the Banana Belt Area of Belize” is to be executed by one of the four components, which addresses Technical Capacity Building for “Upgrading farmers and technicians agronomic and diagnostic skills under the framework of good agronomic practices”.  The activity focuses on training groups with a combined total of thirty-four (34) – farmers, farm managers and technicians from the BGA and the Ministry of Agriculture on the ISFM approach, which includes soil fertility management practices, soil and crop production and rapid-field soil (using soil kits), and plant test analysis under the framework of good agronomic practices.  On May 7-9, 2018, a two-day workshop was done on Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) and Rapid Soil Field Test and was delivered by the International Specialist on Soils and Water Management, Dr. Chaney C.G. St. Martin from the IICA Delegation in Trinidad and Tobago.  Twenty-nine persons including, farm managers, technicians and extension officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, attended the training.
