Technical Cooperation Agenda 2018-2019

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) met with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Officers from the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss the Technical Cooperation Agenda 2018-2019.  The IICA Technical Cooperation Agenda consists of 25 different areas of cooperation between IICA and stakeholders.  The main areas of cooperation include: (i) the European Union funded project, PAGoDA Contract BAN/2017/390-022-Productivity Enhancement of Banana Farms through Integrated Soil Fertility Management in the Banana Belt Area of Belize, (ii) Family Agriculture Flagship Project-Strengthening of the Belize National Extension Service, (iii) Climate Smart Agriculture Proposal/Irrigation and drainage strategy/Agriculture Insurance, (iv) School gardening program and (v) Support for agricultural Census.

Leaders from 12 Latin American countries discussed how to consolidate and deepen regional advances in bioeconomy, at a meeting organized by the governments of Panama and the United Kingdom together with the IICA.

Some 80 leaders from 12 Latin American countries exchanged experiences on the significant advances they are making in the bioeconomy and discussed, together with delegates from the United Kingdom, the policies, strategies and investments needed to translate the region’s comparative advantages into global leadership.
