Technical Cooperation Agenda 2018-2019

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) met with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Officers from the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss the Technical Cooperation Agenda 2018-2019.  The IICA Technical Cooperation Agenda consists of 25 different areas of cooperation between IICA and stakeholders.  The main areas of cooperation include: (i) the European Union funded project, PAGoDA Contract BAN/2017/390-022-Productivity Enhancement of Banana Farms through Integrated Soil Fertility Management in the Banana Belt Area of Belize, (ii) Family Agriculture Flagship Project-Strengthening of the Belize National Extension Service, (iii) Climate Smart Agriculture Proposal/Irrigation and drainage strategy/Agriculture Insurance, (iv) School gardening program and (v) Support for agricultural Census.

Maritza Solano Arce, an entrepreneur who proved that high-quality gourmet cheeses can be produced in Costa Rica’s rural areas, is named an IICA Leader of Rurality of the Americas

Maritza produces twenty-five different varieties, including raclette, hard Gruyere cheeses, bloomy rind cheeses, such as Camembert and Brie, tomme cheeses and creamy gourmet cheeses in five different flavors.
