Dr. Vanderlinder retires from the IICA Dominican Republic Delegation after 26 years of uninterrupted work in the institution
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, February 2018 (IICA). Dr. Dileccio Vanderlinder Payamps, Specialist in Agricultural Health and Food Safety of the IICA Dominican Republic Delegation, is retiring from the institution after 26 years working as Head of the Programs of Agricultural Health and Food Safety (SAIA).
Dr. Vanderlinder joined IICA in 1991 as coordinator and facilitator of the actions carried out by the institution with the Ministry of Agriculture (formerly Secretary of State for Agriculture) in matters of institutional strengthening, livestock development and agricultural health and food safety. In 2008, after his retirement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Dileccio Vanderlinder formally joined IICA as SAIA Specialist of the institution, until his retirement, effective February 28, 2018.
During his career at IICA, Dr. Vanderlinder has made invaluable contributions in SAIA. Under his responsibility, he executed important projects such as the Project for the Control and Eradication of Classical Swine Fever (CSF), Project on Prevention and Control of Avian Influenza, the Project for the Strengthening of International Quarantine in Haiti and Dominican Republic, Project on Intensive Silvopastoral Systems (SSP) for the Conversion of the Dominican Livestock, Project for the “Strengthening of the Surveillance Capacity and Phytosanitary Emergency Response to the Introduction of the Moniliasis of Cocoa in the Dominican Republic”, among other important strengthening initiatives at the national and regional level.
In regards to his experience at IICA, Dr. Vanderlinder expressed that “there were 26 years working day by day for IICA with results of which he feels satisfied, proud and grateful of the institution, and particularly, of all IICA SAIA specialists and of all those work colleagues with whom he interacted, for the experience shared with them and for having contributed with him during all that time, in one way or another, to his professional and personal strengthening”.
His vast professional experience, knowledge and extraordinary quality as a human being make Dr. Dileccio Vanderlinder a precious jewel in the agricultural sector.
