IICA’s 75th anniversary Soiree

To celebrate both Canada’s 150th and IICA’s 75th anniversaries, the Delegation in Canada hosted an evening soiree with partners and friends.  The Rotunda room of the Museum of Nature provided an attractive  venue for the 70 guests to mingle and celebrate the special occasions.  A special guest, Lloyd Day, Deputy Director, from IICA’s headquarters, welcomed the guests and expressed his appreciation to the Canadian stakeholders for their support to the Institute. Chief Agriculture Negotiator for Canada, Frederic Seppey, lauded the contributions of IICA over the years and gave special accolades to Dr. Villalobos for his successful tenure as IICA’s Director General.

The occasion provided the opportunity to express special appreciation to Daryl Nearing of AAFC, who over the years has supported and contributed to governance mechanisms of IICA and to Dr. Gilles Saindon, who under his leadership, led PROCINORTE, a research network of Canadian, American and Mexican scientists, on a path for hemispheric impact.

Team members ensured that guests were well entertained with great Caribbean music, tasty fare and imaginative photo shots.  It was a very fitting occasion to acknowledge the Institute’s 75th Anniversary as well as the 45th year since Canada became a member of IICA.
