IICA participates on Stakeholder interface meeting for clients and partners involved in the pesticides registration and importation process

On Thursday august 24 2017, the Pesticides Control Board (PCB) along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment & Sustainable Development, organized a stakeholder meeting at the Belmopan showground conference room in which IICA was the faciliator at the meeting. The meeting was to discuss the matter of registration and importation of pesticides.    The objective of the activity was: 1) client sensitization and feedback for strengthening of the legal framework for the regulation of pesticides in Belize 2) identify potential areas for strategic partnerships in line with the industry’s stewardship responsibilities and the PCB’s vision and mission statements-for the ultimate benefit of the Belizean people in General. The relevant authorities involved in the registration process did presentations on the steps involved: Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA), Customs and the PCB. IICA expressed to continues its commitment to all stakeholders to continue providing technical cooperation in the agriculture and rural sectors of Belize.

More than 200 representatives from 18 countries, plus 47 speakers, came together for the Third Pan-American Bioinputs Forum in Colombia, an event consisting of two days of technical and political dialogue and one day of field visits. It was a reaffirmation of the commitment of the Americas to more sustainable, competitive and science-based agriculture.
