After 2 workshops, 30 participants are now fully aware of the importance of labelling as part of their market strategy.

Under the recently concluded Agricultural Policy Programme (APP), which was funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, two workshops on Product Labelling were held in Trinidad and Tobago and St. Kitts and Nevis.

Consequently, the 30 participants from the member state are now fully aware of the importance of labelling as part of their market strategy.

Food labelling is one of the most important and direct means of communicating product information between buyers and sellers.  It is one of the primary means by which consumers differentiate between individual food and brands to make informed purchasing choices.

Through an initiative, which was spearheaded by the IICA Delegation in St. Kitts and Nevis the agro-processors received a Grant of EC$19,000 from the New Zealand High Commission in Barbados to purchase laptops, printer and other accessories.  It is hoped that this would greatly enhance the appearance of the products and make them more competitive in local and regional markets.
