The Project “Program to Support the Productivity and Competitiveness of the Agricultural Sector” in the Dominican Republic (PRESAAC) finalized the implementation of all its components and activities by the end of November 2016.
The Project “Program to Support the Productivity and Competitiveness of the Agricultural Sector” in the Dominican Republic (PRESAAC) finalized the implementation of all its components and activities by the end of November 2016.
One of the project has the objective to support the competitiveness of the Tayota (Sechium edule) and Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) and was implemented in the Municipality of Jarabacoa, La Vega Province, in coordination with the Association of Producers Agro Jaraba Export, Inc., has succeeded in reactivating the crop with a program to implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and other technologies environmentally friendly and adapted to the climate change.
The project has been able to support the establishment and rehabilitation of irrigation systems and tutors of each of these crops as well as the preparation of organic fertilizers and fungicides, based on local inputs.
As a final activity within the project, two workshops were held for technical personnel and farmers to train them on Good Practices to Export Perishable Produce to the US Market.
