During his intervention, Mr. Lam emphasized the importance of focusing on the fruit quality, as the US market and the EU are demanding the product throughout the year, and there is the possibility of introducing new varieties of mango and the organoleptic characteristics of the new varieties are becoming more important for the consumers. He also stressed that good management must start at the farm level that is critical for achieving a quality product.

There are new segments or niche markets that are demanding new attributes to fresh produce and at the same time, he said that over 90% of export mango is fresh so should be explored new ways to add value to the exportation of mangoes.
