Project Opportunities in Canada

Tiempo de lectura: 3 mins.

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) recently updated its website regarding international development projects.

Ottawa, Canada. 5 priority thematic areas have been identified for international assistance, in addition to the Government’s continued commitment in the Muskoka Initiative to improve maternal, newborn and child health.

Three cross cutting themes encompass increasing environmental sustainability, gender equity and governance.

Interested parties can submit proposals for funding consistent with these priorities either through Calls for Proposals or unsolicited proposals (http://www.international.gc.ca/development-developpement/priorities-priorites/index.aspx?lang=eng). Additionally, some countries among our IICA member states have been identified as focus countries or partner countries in areas which have been advanced by the region or country as priority.

GAC’s Call for Proposals: 5 priority thematic areas identified

It is however important to note that Canada’s international assistance programme is currently up for revision, and GAC has provided an excellent window of opportunity for Canadian as well as international stakeholders to participate in a consultative process towards shaping the new policy.  Sessions have already taken place on themes such as: Health and Rights of Women and Children (focus: well-being and empowerment of children and youth); Clean Economic Growth and Climate Change & Delivering Results: Improving Effectiveness, Transparency, Innovation and Partnerships. Issues relating to the economic empowerment of women, climate change, nutrition and health are featured interest areas so far.  Delegations are invited to visit the GAC website:

http://www.international.gc.ca/development-developpement/index.aspx?lang=eng

and also check our own website:

http://www.iica.int/en/countries/canada for details regarding the process for submitting your opinions on thematic areas or strategies.
