There will be an estimated 9 billion people living on earth by the year 2050 – feeding these 9 billion people and ensuring the quality, quantity and availability of food is of vital importance to the sustainability of our world. The World Food Prize Foundation has honored and recognized those who have made contributions in any field involved in the world food supply for the last 30 years, with Laureate recipients from every corner of the globe.
The World Food Prize Foundation will announce the 2016 World Food Prize on Tuesday, June 28, at the U.S. Department of State, Washington DC, where the ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
The keynote remarks will be presented by The Honorable Gayle E. Smith, Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn, President of the World Food Prize Foundation, will announce the name and contributions of the 2016 Laureate.
