The World Food Prize Foundation will announce the 2017 World Food Prize winner on Monday, June 26, at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington DC. The ceremony will begin at 12:45 p.m. EDT.
“The World Food Prize has been referred to as the “Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture” and is the most prominent global award recognizing an individual who has enhanced human development and confronted hunger by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world.
Jason Hafemeister, acting U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs will be presiding over the World Food Prize Laureate Announcement Ceremony.
The Hon. Sonny Perdue, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture will give the keynote address and Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn, President of the World Food Prize, will announce the name of the 2017 Laureate.
