IICA – FAO work jointly in the Dominican Republic national agricultural agenda

The IICA Representative in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Frank Lam and FAO Representative in the country, Mr. Carmelo Gallardo have been working since early March to coordinate efforts and resources and present an unified technical cooperation agenda to the public and private institutions in the Dominican Republic.

The IICA Representative in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Frank Lam and FAO Representative in the country, Mr. Carmelo Gallardo have been working since early March to coordinate efforts and resources and present an unified technical cooperation agenda to the public and private institutions in the Dominican Republic.

As a first step, the two institutions have shared their vision, work plans for this year and are in the process of developing a work agenda 2016 – 2017 enabling the incorporation of strategic areas for the Dominican Republic agricultural sector to avoid duplication of efforts and seek synergies in technical cooperation.

Currently, IICA – FAO together with the World Bank are working together to present a project to government authorities to strengthen capacities in the management of water resources in the country, mainly in areas where water is used for irrigation of agricultural crops.
