IICA will host the 3rd Meeting of the International Contact Group on Venezuela on May 6 and 7

The headquarters of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), in San Jose, Costa Rica, will host the meeting next week.

San Jose, 03 May 2019. On Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7, the headquarters of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in San Jose, Costa Rica, will host the 3rd Meeting of the International Contact Group on Venezuela, which is comprised of 13 countries from the European Union and Latin America.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica made the announcement today.

“For the Government of Costa Rica, the opportunity to host the meeting in San Jose represents an acknowledgement of our country’s leadership and diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Venezuela,” stated Manuel E. Ventura Robles, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica.

The International Contact Group (ICG) is comprised of countries from the European Union (France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom) and Latin America (Costa Rica, Uruguay, Ecuador and Bolivia).

The 3rd Ministerial Meeting will be inaugurated on Monday, May 6 in the evening, at the Ministry of Foreign and Religious Affairs of Costa Rica. The President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Mr. Carlos Alvarado Quesada, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, will speak at the event.

The meeting will begin at 8 am on Tuesday, May 7, at the headquarters of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), which will also host a press conference following the close of the Ministerial Meeting, after midday.

The International Contact Group (ICG) is the only mechanism that has access to all relevant parties in Venezuela.

IICA launches the fifth edition of Digital Agriculture Week and opens call for AgTech startups from the Americas
