The main objective of the project is “to build the capacity, in three target village communities, to effectively manage the main diseases that affect chicken production” this project will (i) provide training in the management, recognition and treatment of the poultry diseases that affect poultry production in Belize; (ii) provide the design, the materials and oversight for the construction of 30 bio secure poultry coops; and (iii) provide a “farmer useable manual” on poultry disease management.   The project will involve the community in providing the labor for the construction of the poultry coops.   The aim is to develop a model poultry production community for later replication in, or copying by, other villages.  The project involved        stakeholders from the Belize Poultry Association, the Belize Agricultural Health Authority and the Ministry of Agriculture.
