Two short videos were produced to show the technologies and practices of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), which is being validated in Colombia and the Dominican Republic through a project with the financial support of FONTAGRO and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The videos provide testimony of producers and technicians from both countries.

The first, in the Dominican Republic, provides an overview of how to implement SRI and its many advantages compared to Its traditional system. This work is being led by the Dominican Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Research (IDIAF) and the National Council of Agricultural and Forestry Research (CONIAF), in coordination with the IICA Representation in the Dominican Republic.

The second video, featuring the efforts in Colombia, was produced for the National Rice Producers Federation’s (FEDEARROZ) section of the program “Vistazo Agropecuario”, of the TVAgro television channel.  The video shows the use of different types of machinery to support cultivation using SRI methods, important due to the high cost and scarcity of labor for production in Latin America.
