The dialogue was divided into four work groups that discussed different aspects of the positions the region will take at the UN global meeting. The meeting will seek to establish commitments and global measures to transform food systems, not only to eradicate hunger, but also to reduce the incidence of foodborne diseases and promote greater conservation of natural resources.

The Dialogue was organized by IICA, FAO, the Chamber of International Trade, the African Union and the International Agrifood Network, in an attempt to make the voice of this segment heard at the United Nations Food Systems Summit.

Each session highlighted the technical assistance provided by the program aimed at improving the resilience and sustainability of coffee production in Central America. Additionally, they underscored the motivation of farmers to implement technologies and sustainable, diversified production models on their farms.

Carlos María Uriarte, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, gave an interview with Agro America, a program broadcast on Brazil’s AgroMais TV.

The event was held from May 24-28 and included the participation of over 600 companies from America, Asia, and Europe.

Joint work will aim to share capacities and experiences in technology and digitalization with small farmers and to drive the analysis of environmental variables using the Internet of Things and geospatial analysis.
