The ministers expressed to the European Commission the willingness of the Southern Cone countries of the Americas to work together and engage in a real and effective dialogue through a declaration signed during the 47th regular meeting of the CAS, a forum for consultation and coordination of regional actions on agricultural policy with more than 20 years of experience.

Manuel Otero, Director General of IICA, thanked Ronald Guendel, Global Vice-President of Smallholder Farming at Bayer, for his support in projects aimed at driving the transformation of the region’s agriculture.

Specialists from Chile’s SAG, the WOAH, OIRSA, APHIS-USDA and the Southern Cone Standing Veterinary Committee described the situation in the region in depth and urged governments to strengthen surveillance and rapid response systems for dealing with health emergencies.

The summit will bring together different experts and industry leaders to discuss and analyze key issues related to sustainable fuels. The academic agenda will include, among other things, a conference on the evolution of SAF prices compared to those of fossil fuels and trends in raw materials.

IICA's participation in the topic was considered relevant by the most important academics in veterinary sciences from the Ibero-American countries, who met at the Institute's headquarters in San José, Costa Rica, at a conference organized by the Ibero-American Association of Academies of Veterinary Sciences (AIACIVET).

A congress organized by CABI, IOBC, IICA, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the University of Costa Rica (UCR) addressed the relevance of intelligent use of biological controllers to increase the sustainability of regional agriculture.

The initiative will encourage the use of digital technologies (in this case, the Minecraft video game) to develop creative and innovative solutions to real-world problems. High school students wishing to take part must register online between June 12 and 24.
