IICA’s modernization is encouraging greater participation by Member States in its governing bodies

IICA’s renewal measures are prompting a more proactive attitude among countries in the Institute’s governing bodies. The Executive Committee approved the 2020-2021 budget and the key areas of focus of the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas, which will be held in October in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica officially launches its Fab Lab: an innovation lab for agriculture

The new lab is an initiative spearheaded by Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT) of Costa Rica and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation for Agriculture (IICA). The initiative may be replicated in other Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Director General of IICA receives strong support for institutional modernization process

The Executive Committee, a governing body of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), brought together delegates from about twenty countries in San Jose, Costa Rica. The participants expressed strong support for the institutional modernization process led by Director General Manuel Otero.

Microsoft and IICA create open access video platform on agriculture

IICA Play is a new tool for reducing digital and education divides. Producers across the hemisphere will have access to more than one hundred videos with technical and educational content related to agriculture, ranging from the efficient use of natural resources to methods of treating plant health diseases.

IICA launches online forum to promote the empowerment of rural women

The forum, which can be accessed at ruralwomen.iica.int, will provide an information- and data-sharing platform to raise awareness about the inequalities faced by these women, in a bid to pave the way for actions that guarantee equity.

Opportunities and challenges for Latin America and the Caribbean Innovating for a Resilient Agriculture and Food Sector
