The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) is adopting an innovative approach and actions to foster the economic independence and empowerment of rural women. The Institute’s decisive actions stem from the recognition of a painful reality: rural women are among the most disadvantaged group of women.

Agreement between the Argentine Seed Producers’ Association (ASA) and IICA will boost the competitiveness of agriculture

The memorandum of understanding, which was signed in Buenos Aires by Alfredo Paseyro, Executive Director of ASA, and Manuel Otero, Director General of IICA, will generate technical cooperation actions aimed at preparing and implementing projects, conducting training sessions and exchanging information related to phytosanitary aspects, plant breeding and biotechnology, as well as seed treatment.

IICA-SENASA agreement will enable continuous improvement of agricultural health and agrifood safety services in Argentina

The agreement was signed in Buenos Aires by Ricardo Negri, President of SENASA, and Manuel Otero, Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture. It will contribute to strengthening agricultural health and the quality and safety of agrifood products, enhancing the capacities and services offered by SENASA.

Argentina’s Secretariat of Science, Technology and Production Innovation and IICA establish a regional platform for Argentina to lead the development of the bioeconomy

The initiative will be guided by an agreement, signed in Buenos Aires by Lino Barañao, Argentina’s Secretary of Science, Technology and Production Innovation, and Manuel Otero, Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). Argentina will be at the forefront of bioeconomy development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Director General of the Institute, Manuel Otero, conferred the title on Paolinelli during a ceremony attended by numerous authorities, including the Brazilian Ministers of Agriculture and Citizenship, Tereza Cristina and Osmar Terra, who highlighted the Institute’s work.

IICA promotes new programs and broadens partnerships in Brazil

The Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Manuel Otero, met with high-level authorities of the Government of Brazil in order to promote new projects. He was welcomed to Brazil by the ministers of Regional Development and Citizenship, as well as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
