The delegation composed of leaders of 11 Caribbean countries exchanged experiences with members of the Agriculture Commission of the Senate of Argentina, in order to incorporate knowledge and innovation, especially in the field of technology applied to agricultural production.

According to the Director General of the Institute, Manuel Otero, the agreement will support Caribbean countries in matters relating to climate change and will promote more cooperation projects for Central America.

The Director General of IICA, which is the institution in charge of the FORAGRO Secretariat, designated Viviana Palmieri as the new Executive Secretary of the forum.

The Director General of IICA stated that the new cooperation actions will focus on strengthening the support that IICA provides to biofactories in their efforts to control different types of fruit flies, including the Mediterranean fruit fly.

A global workshop organized by AgMIP with support from IICA will be held at the end of April at the Institute’s headquarters in Costa Rica.
