  • Microsoft and IICA launch second edition of the Minecraft Education Challenge for Agriculture targeted at young people and focused on water conservation and sustainability

    The initiative will encourage the use of digital technologies (in this case, the Minecraft video game) to develop creative and innovative solutions to real-world problems. High school students wishing to take part must register online between June 12 and 24.
  • IICA backs United Arab Emirates initiative to launch a multinational Technical Group to discuss avenues for transforming agriculture in the face of climate change challenges 

    This month, at the Climate Conference that is underway in Bonn, Germany, the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of a Technical Cooperation Collaborative (TCC), comprised of a group of partners that will offer countries their collaboration to achieve agricultural transformation objectives.
  • IICA launches a free virtual course on agri-food systems to strengthen capacities and drive their transformation in the Americas

    The course will be available on the web platform of the Leadership School for the Transformation of Agrifood Systems of the Americas from 3 June to 30 November 2024.
  • With COP29 on the horizon, specialists convened by IICA recommend speeding up actions and increasing financing to strengthen international climate action

    In a virtual seminar organized by IICA and the Executive Secretariat of the Central American Agricultural Council, experts discussed the Global Stocktake presented at COP28 in Dubai, a report that shows the status of national climate mitigation and adaptation actions.
  • IICA will collaborate with the Argentine government in controlling the corn leafhopper pest, which is causing severe losses in corn growing in the central and northern regions of the country

    Private estimates indicate that the pest has destroyed 20% of the projected corn production for this year in Argentina.
  • Ministers and other senior officials of the Southern Agricultural Council (CAS) express strong support for IICA’s work and urge other countries in the Americas to strengthen ties to tackle global challenges

    At the 17th Special Meeting of the CAS held in Paris, the Council underscored the value of, and need for, the Institute’s technical cooperation to address a wide range of sector issues that transcend national borders and call for a regional approach.
