“The Soul of Rurality”: book commemorating IICA’s 80 years of existence underscores the value and importance of silent leadership for agriculture and food security
The publication includes 80 profiles on people who have made, are making and will make a difference in the rural areas of the Americas, which are strategic areas for the food, nutritional and environmental security of the planet. The dual Spanish-English edition can be downloaded free of charge.

There was also a presentation of the commemorative book “The Soul of Rurality”, which features profiles on outstanding leaders in agriculture in the Americas, including Sonia Murillo (Costa Rica) and Lorena Valdez (Ecuador), who took part in the celebrations.

The plaza is a public space, established at the Institute’s Headquarters in the canton of Vásquez de Coronado, highlighting the value of agriculture and biodiversity and their importance to society.
Costa Rican National Lottery pays tribute to IICA on its 80th anniversary
A special commemorative lottery ticket was presented to IICA by the Social Protection Board, the government entity that organizes the Costa Rican lottery. The draw will take place on Sunday, 9 October.
The AgroArt Museum joins in on IICA’s 80th anniversary celebrations with the “Colors of my Land” workshop series and the “Museums in AgroArt” exhibit
“Colors of my Land”—a joint program in association with the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires and IICA’s Community Outreach Association—will seek to publicize and highlight the value of ecosystems in the four subregions of the Americas, through artistic and recreational activities aiming to create a tangible impact on the daily lives of children aged 5 to 12.
