    The Southern Agricultural Council (CAS) celebrates 20 years as a strategic policy coordination forum for Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay

    CAS is an organization through which its six member countries define priorities for the agricultural agenda and adopt positions on issues of regional interest, with a view to coordinating the development of agreed actions.
  • Visit by Director General Manuel Otero to Bogotá enables IICA to strengthen its technical cooperation agenda to foster sustainable agriculture and preserve the rural economy and biodiversity in Colombia

    The Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development, Jhenifer Mojica; the Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Susana Muhamad; the Deputy Minister of Environmental Land Management of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Francisco Javier Canal Albán; the President of the Rural Development Agency, Luis Alberto Higuera Malaver; the Director of National Natural Parks, Luis Olmedo Martínez Zamora; and the Rector of the National University of Colombia, Dolly Montoya, were among the officials who welcomed the Director General of the agency specializing in agricultural and rural development.
  • With the support of IICA, official laboratory technicians of veterinary services in 12 countries of the Americas are receiving training in the diagnosis of antimicrobial resistance

    With technical guidance from The Ohio State University, and under IICA’s coordination, a virtual course on Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards was delivered with the aim of improving the monitoring of diseases that can affect food production in the region.

    This was the conclusion reached by ministers and other senior agricultural officials from the CAS member countries at a meeting held in Buenos Aires
  • Fostering the growth of AgTechs and facilitating public-private linkages will enable agriculture in the Americas to better capitalize on digital solutions 

    Network of 20 AgTechs (technology companies whose services are geared towards the agriculture sector) in the Americas, established by IICA in 2022, issues recommendations to consolidate the ecosystem for this industry in the region.
