First Meeting of the Technical Committee for Technical Assistance and Agricultural Innovation Service of the Ministry of Agriculture

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, April 2019 (IICA). In order to publicize the work to be developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and reorganize the technical assistance and agricultural innovation service, the first meeting of the technical committee created to follow up and make decisions on planning and execution was held. The actions and activities will be developed through the cooperation and support of the representations in the country of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

In this meeting, the Project «Support for the reorganization of the Technical Assistance and Agricultural Innovation Service in the Dominican Republic» was presented, with the financial support of FAO; as well as the work on the coffee extension service carried out by the Component for the Dominican Republic of the Central American Program for the Integrated Management of Coffee Rust (PROCAGICA-DR), which is executed by IICA with funds from the European Union (EU).

The meeting was headed by the Vice Minister of Agricultural Extension and Training, the Vice Minister of Rural Development and the Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Training, also present were the representatives of IICA and FAO in the Dominican Republic; representative of the National Institute of Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP), the Executive Directors of the Dominican Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Research (IDIAF) and the National Council of Agricultural and Forestry Research; Responsible for Rural Development of the South and Southwest Regions of the Ministry of Agriculture, representative of the Ecological Society of Barahora (SOEBA); among others.
