Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, October 2018 (IICA). The institutional management of IICA, according to the 2018-2022 Medium Term Plan, is based on participatory and horizontal leadership, which promotes development and enhances the capacities of its personnel in an environment of collaboration, harmony, respect and efficiency. It is based on the premise that the effective management of human talent is a responsibility shared with all the people who fulfill the function of managing human resources throughout the Institute.
The IICA Office in the Dominican Republic, based on this institutional policy, developed a health awareness session in October, with the support of the Medical Assistance Plan (PLAM) of the Laboratorios Aplicaciones Medicas (LAM), as part of its social responsibility, created with the aim of contributing to improve the quality of life of Dominicans.
The PLAM seeks to reduce the cost of treatments for chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure, prostate diseases, etc. The doctors who performed the medical session evaluated the employees of the IICA-DR Office and other invited institutions, such as the Agricultural Bank of the Dominican Republic. Doctors also gave samples of medicines to the personnel, according to their diagnoses.
A PLAM affiliation card was also given to the personnel which will give a 25% discount on the LAM medicines registered in the PLAM system, in all the pharmacies affiliated with the program (more than 500 throughout the country). Members can buy the amount of medicines they want, with a 25% discount for their entire family.
