Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, January 2019 (IICA). During the month of January, the technical team of the IICA Delegation in the Dominican Republic, together with the Ministry of Women, began to work on the joint work plan with concrete actions for the development of rural women in the Dominican Republic.

This work plan is elaborated within the framework of the agreement signed between the Minister of Women, Janet Camilo and the Representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Frank Lam, at the end of 2018. This alliance also includes joint coordination with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the Dominican Republic, with which IICA is planning actions to support the Ministry of Women.

Both institutions have joined forces to develop activities that promote the well-being of women who work in the development of the field. The work plan is conceived starting from the National Gender Equality and Equity Plan and the Medium Term Plan (PMP 2018-2022), technical planning instruments of both institutions. Some of the topics addressed include economic empowerment, institutional strengthening, development of agribusiness, gender vulnerability to climate change, among others.
