The IICA Delegation in the Dominican Republic, in coordination with the ISA University, the Institute of Innovation in Biotechnology and Industry (IIBI) and the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) held the technical conferences: “Modern approach to biotechnology in the agro-food sector” and “Status of biotechnology worldwide and Latin America” both lectured by Dr. Pedro J. Rocha, Biotechnology and Biosafety Coordinator of the Inter-American Institute of Cooperation for Agriculture (IICA) at Headquarters.
These activities are part of IICA’s technical cooperation agenda in the Dominican Republic due to the importance that Biotechnology and Biosafety currently have for the country’s agricultural development.
Both the conference held at the ISA University of Santiago de los Caballeros, and those held at the IIBI and UASD counted on a massive presence of participants, among students and faculty of Agronomy, Food Processing, Veterinar as well as professionals from the public and private sector linked to the sector.
