120 leaders from 20 countries will gather from September 22 to 25 at IICA headquarters.

San José, September 19, 2025 (IICA) – The most important stakeholders committed to the digital transformation of agrifood systems in the Americas will once again meet at the headquarters of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Costa Rica.

The fourth edition of Digital Agriculture Week (DAW), the leading regional platform for exchange on digital technologies applied to agriculture, will take place from Monday, September 22 to Thursday, September 25, in San José. All activities will be broadcast on IICA’s YouTube channels in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

With this new meeting, IICA reaffirms its commitment to the digital transformation of agriculture by creating meeting spaces for the various actors in the innovation ecosystem. The goal is to foster the effective contribution of digital technologies to advancing more productive and sustainable agriculture that creates real development opportunities for people.

The event will bring together more than 120 leaders from 20 countries linked to digitalization and the AgTech ecosystem, including nearly 40 leading startups, investment funds and accelerators, national agricultural research institutes (NARIs) from nine countries, universities, public authorities, and multilateral organizations.

Among the participants will be 20 agtechs from 14 countries in the Americas that won an annual competition and will travel to Costa Rica with all expenses covered, in recognition of their potential to generate tangible impact in these areas, contributing to a more efficient, resilient, and inclusive agriculture in the Americas.

The winning startups will give presentations on the solutions they offer and their experiences in promoting the digitalization of different processes. Other agtechs that participated in previous editions of DAW will also be present.

Strategic partners

The strategic partners that joined IICA in organizing this edition are IDB, CAF, Bayer, PROCISUR, the University of Córdoba, and AWS, together with more than 20 supporting partners, including leading accelerators and investment funds in the region.

The DAW agenda will revolve around six central topics, all linked to key aspects of agrifood systems that are undergoing transformation as a result of the digital technology revolution:
• Field data registration and management.
• Technical assistance and extension.
• Development and distribution of climate services.
• New generation of financial services.
• Trade and markets.
• Certification and traceability.

Each of these topics will feature presentations by distinguished international speakers such as Ignacio Ciampitti, Paul Winters, Erin Goughlan, Eva Marie Meemken, Kate Ambler, and Walter Baethgen.

In addition to panels, lectures, and startup presentations, the event will offer multiple networking opportunities, including an innovative speed-dating session between agtechs and investment funds, coordinated by Endeavor.

Also, as part of the event, IICA’s Artificial Intelligence Day (“dIA” for its Spanish acronym) will take place on Thursday 25 September.

An innovative aspect of this fourth edition of DAW is that it was preceded by Digital Agriculture Days in 15 countries. These events, led by IICA’s country offices, brought together key players in the digital innovation ecosystems of each nation. The DAW agenda will include a special space to integrate the conclusions of these events.
