In response to a request from the Mango Cluster in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Frank Lam, IICA Representative in the Dominican Republic gave the presentation: "Niches and New Markets for Mango in the Dominican Republic" in the cycle of conferences of the Mango Fair, from June 9th to 12th in Bani, Peravia.

The IICA Representative in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Frank Lam and FAO Representative in the country, Mr. Carmelo Gallardo have been working since early March to coordinate efforts and resources and present an unified technical cooperation agenda to the public and private institutions in the Dominican Republic.

During his recent visit to the Dominican Republic, the IICA Director General, Dr. Victor Villalobos had a meeting with Mr. Angel Estevez, Minister of Agriculture to share different topics related to the IICA technical cooperation agenda in the country.

In an effort to continue the planning and coordination of the technical cooperation activities of the different donors and cooperation agencies in the agricultural sector of the Dominican Republic, IICA and FAO have retaken the working meetings among the different agencies.

In the most recent meeting of this group, representatives of FAO, Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECIED), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the European Union Delegation (DUE) in the country discussed the operation and initial strategy of the group.

The IICA Director General, Dr. Victor Villalobos made a warm and enthusiastic visit to the IICA Delegation in the Dominican Republic during his participation in the 46th OAS General Assembly during June 2016.

Under the “Strengthening bilateral trade between the US and Latin America” Project implemented in countries with a FTA with the US, the workshop "Elements of strategy to boost trade chain cassava between the Dominican Republic and the United States” was implemented in the Dominican Republic.

As part of the commitments made by IICA and the ISA University in the agreement to implement in the country the "Virtual Regional School Food Inspection for Central America and the Dominican Republic" (ERVIA), IICA donated a complete videoconference equipment that will serve to strengthen its technological capacity to train professionals in the area of ​​food inspection.

The IICA Delegation in the Dominican Republic has taken a new approach with the private agricultural organizations in the country and has been having various meetings with the clear objective to coordinate efforts with these instances in which IICA can offer all its technical cooperation.
