IICA Director General visits the Ministry of Agriculture in the Dominican Republic

During his recent visit to the Dominican Republic, the IICA Director General, Dr. Victor Villalobos had a meeting with Mr. Angel Estevez, Minister of Agriculture to share different topics related to the IICA technical cooperation agenda in the country.

During his recent visit to the Dominican Republic, the IICA Director General, Dr. Victor Villalobos had a meeting with Mr. Angel Estevez, Minister of Agriculture to share different topics related to the IICA technical cooperation agenda in the country.

Dr. Villalobos emphasized to Mr. Estevez the IICA commitment to continue the technical support to the Dominican Republic agricultural sector. In this regard, the Minister requested specific support in capacity building to the Ministry of Agriculture staff on issues related to international trade in fresh produce, also, on issues related to innovation and technology to improve the productive capacity from the sector.

Likewise, the Minister thanked all the technical cooperation provided by IICA through various projects to strengthen plant and animal health system, food safety and technological improvements in apiculture, aquaculture and cattle sectors.

From erosion to harvest: an experience in soil recovery and productive diversification in Chile’s coastal drylands

IICA is working together with the Cuncumén Peasant Agricultural Cooperative on a 17.3-hectare farm, with funding from the Foundation for Agricultural Innovation (FIA), in a project called “Silvoagricultural Diversification as a Productive Methodology and Strategy and Optimization of On-Farm Irrigation in the Dryland Conversion Area of Cuncumén, San Antonio Province”.
