The agreement includes the preparation of technical studies, capacity building and knowledge management to improve agricultural and economic productivity of Nicaraguan territory.
Managua.The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) organization have signed an agreement that seeks to improve production systems and the competitive development of rural areas in Nicaragua.
Since 2013, IICA and CRS have been carrying out joint activities on topics related to propelling productivity, in order to support organizations of Nicaraguan producers.
The agreement, which was signed in Managua by Mario Aldana, IICA Representative in Nicaragua, and Anne Elizabeth Bousquet, Representative for Nicaragua at CRS, constitutes a legal framework for developing future cooperation activities.
Areas of work include agriculture, livestock farming, climate change, sustainable use of natural resources, compliance with national and international regulations, and the implementation of sound agricultural practices to improve the quality of products for domestic consumption and export.
Some of the activities that the entities will be carrying out are preparing technical studies, developing capacities and managing knowledge to improve Nicaragua’s agricultural and economic productivity.
CRS is a humanitarian agency founded in 1943 in Maryland, United States, to assist people in vulnerable situations such as emergencies, extreme poverty and sickness.
