“Colors of my Land”—a joint program in association with the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires and IICA’s Community Outreach Association—will seek to publicize and highlight the value of ecosystems in the four subregions of the Americas, through artistic and recreational activities aiming to create a tangible impact on the daily lives of children aged 5 to 12.
San Jose, 5 October 2022 (IICA) – The AgroArt Virtual Art Museum of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), joins in on the Institute’s 80th anniversary celebrations, with the launch of two major initiatives: the opening of its educational area, with the launch of “Colors of my Land” – a virtual workshop series on biodiversity and art, organized in collaboration with the association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires; as well as the “Museums in AgroArt” exhibit, which includes works from various countries in the Americas.
“Colors of my Land”—a joint program in association with the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires and IICA’s Community Outreach Association—will seek to publicize and highlight the value of ecosystems in the four subregions of the Americas, through artistic and recreational activities aiming to create a tangible impact on the daily lives of children aged 5 to 12.
The program will also seek to introduce creative strategies that will assist in strengthening the diverse identities throughout these regions, using biodiversity as tool to build increased social awareness.
During this first phase, classes will be offered to Spanish-speaking countries free of cost, and in the near future classes subtitled in English and Portuguese will be added.
An introduction to the workshops has been prepared in the form of a video, with testimonials by Manuel Otero, IICA Director General; Amanda Fernández, architect and President of IICA’s Community Outreach Association; artist Gaby Grobo; Andrés Gribnicow, the Director of the Association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts; workshop instructor Gabriela Gugliottella; and Ignacio Hernaiz, IICA Institutional Relations Advisor for MERCOSUR.

AgroArt also launched “Museums in AgroArt” – a space for the dissemination and integration of artistic expressions of the Americas, emanating from the rich and varied diversity of its rural areas.
The exhibit includes pieces from museums in Argentina (the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Las Lilas Museum), Costa Rica and Uruguay, featuring artists such as Florencio Molina Campos, Martin Malharro, Walter de Navazio, Eduardo Sívori and Faustino Eugenio.
Drawings and oil paintings depict landscapes and daily rural life, providing us with an in-depth look and inviting us inward to submerge ourselves in their reality.
The AgroArt / IICA Virtual Art Museum is a space for the dissemination and integration of the artistic expressions of the Americas, emanating from the rich and varied diversity of its rural areas.
It is destined to become a sounding board for the cultural expressions of rural areas in the Americas, showcasing the region’s diversity, territories, customs and knowledge, as well as the traditions of its people.
