Mexico to host next Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture

Buenos Aires, Argentina, September 26, 2013 (IICA). One of the agreements reached today at the Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas, being held in Argentina, is that Mexico will be the site of the meeting in 2015.

The ministers of agriculture and heads of delegation attending this year’s meeting welcomed the offer made by the Under Secretary of Food and Competitiveness of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock Farming, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) of Mexico, Ricardo Aguilar.

The meeting, held every two years, is attended by the ministers of agriculture of the 34 member countries of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

During the meeting, the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA), the highest governing body of the Institute, also met to hear the Director General’s report on the activities of the Institute and reach agreement on technical cooperation actions.
