Toledo Cacao Growers Association Annual General Meeting

November 4, 2017, the Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) is prepared to assist in providing technical cooperation to the Toledo Cacao Growers Association (TCGA).  On November 4, 2017, the TCGA held its annual general meeting in which the challenges faced by the cacao growers were highlighted, and elections took place to select the new board of directors.  The CAO of Agriculture, Mr. Andrew Harrison and IICA Belize Representative, Dr. Gabriel Rodriguez Marques were invited as guest speakers.  IICA Belize representative mentioned that the Toledo Cacao Growers Association  have very good opportunities regardless of the problems they are facing but pointed out that there are opportunities to strengthen the associations and also to look after marketing opportunities diversifying their products.

She holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Rural Sociology from Louisiana State University in the United States, and a Doctorate (PhD) in Agricultural Extension with a specialization in International Agriculture and Environmental Sociology from Cornell University in New York.
