In the lead-up to COP28, Chilean Government and IICA strengthen partnership and call for improving soil health to guarantee food security and overcome the climate crisis
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the achievements and coordinate future actions of the Living Soils of the Americas initiative, which acts as a bridge between science, public policies, the private sector and efforts to restore soils in the hemisphere, whose degradation threatens the position of Latin America and the Caribbean as a guarantor of global food security.
IICA, its 34 Member States and strategic partners from the private sector will install the Home of Sustainable Agriculture of the Americas pavilion at COP28, ratifying the sector’s commitment to tackling climate change
The pavilion at COP28 is a joint effort between IICA and its partners, aimed at generating new international partnerships to fund, accelerate or scale up the implementation of contributions to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Over one hundred women involved in agriculture and natural resource management in Costa Rica strengthened their digital and geospatial technology skills at IICA Headquarters
Since 2019, the GeoFem: Women in Geospatial Technologies (Rally Femenino) workshops organized by IICA and its international partners have provided empowerment and training in innovation technology for more than 500 women. The most recent workshop was co-organized with SERVIR – a joint NASA and USAID initiative.
Agriculture and climate action: an IICA website that will exhibit the collective work of countries in the Americas at COP28 – showcasing advances by the hemisphere’s agriculture sector in the area of sustainability
The webpage, available at https://agroyaccionclimatica.iica.int/en/, illustrates the strategic role of the region’s agriculture sector in tackling climate change. It also presents the Home of Sustainable Agriculture of the Americas - the pavilion that IICA and its partners will host at COP28 in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to build public awareness about and highlight the role of the agrifood systems of the Americas in driving the development of climate solutions.
Argentina’s Ministry of Science and IICA select and lend their support to eight bioeconomy research projects on technologies applied to agriculture, with a regional scope
The initiatives will be launched within the framework of scientific-technological cooperation between MinCyT and IICA. They will address various topics, namely the development of biomaterials, waste biorefineries, bioenergy, bioinputs and bioenterprises.
