Haiti, December 17, 2014 (IICA). Each component of the project Reforestation and Use of Energy Saving Stoves in Arreguy-Jacmel, Haiti included theoretical and practical training, given by the agronomist responsible for coordinating the project activities.

The project also produced educational leaflets in creole that were distributed among the population, including schoolteachers.

A community assessment was carried out at the start of the second phase with the active participation of volunteers from Lambi, Cáritas, the missionary sisters and the project’s technical field staff. Workshops were held with members of the organizations, community leaders, teachers, church members and groups of women and young people.

The results of the assessment made it possible to identify the areas on which the project should focus its actions in the years ahead. The aim will be to strengthen local institutions, through a training program led by specialists.
