IICA participates in Accompanying Measures for Sugar (AMS), Communications and Visibility Project

On September 17, 2017, the communications and visibility project under the Accompanying Measures for Sugar (AMS) held a meeting at the Corozal Sugar Cane Producers Association conference room to discuss the impacts of the several activities accomplished under the project.  Representatives from the National Authorizing Office (NAO), the European Union Delegation from Jamaica, The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI) sugar cane farmers and other invited guests made presence at the event as being key partners during the execution of the project.

Participants agreed on placing farmers’ needs at the center of the discussion and stated that it is necessary to expand approaches that reward those who carry out good agricultural practices which, in turn, offer ecosystem benefits.
