Brokering knowledge through the PROCINORTE Platform

 

3 of the 4 Task Forces of PROCINORTE were extremely active over the period. The Animal Health Task Force had a successful workshop on “Genomics Tools for Animal Health Research”  in Mexico City in September, during which national Agricultural research entities in Mexico, USA and Canada delivered updates on methodologies and protocols used in diagnostic and management systems for animal diseases.

Mexican authorities urge IICA to intensify its support for the agrifood sector in the Americas

Institute officials met in Mexico with representatives of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) and with the team of Secretary of Agriculture designate, Victor Villalobos, who lauded the work being carried out by this agency of the Inter-American system, which specializes in agricultural and rural development.

IICA and the FDA to train professionals from 13 countries in the hemisphere on the standard for exporting fresh agricultural produce to the United States

Starting today, the professionals are receiving training at a regional workshop in Costa Rica, sharing expertise and information with exporters, producers and academics. The event was declared open by the United States Ambassador to Costa Rica, Sharon Day, and IICA’s Deputy Director General, Lloyd Day.
