Costa Rica. Photographs depicting global agriculture and its challenge to produce more food sustainably are on display as of this month in an exhibition at the headquarters of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

The 30 photographs of National Geographic’s “The Future of Food” collection make up a special series that addresses agriculture’s challenge to generate enough food for the 9 billion people who will inhabit the planet in 2050.

“The great effort of a group of professionals is reflected in this exhibition, which succeeded in meeting the high quality standards required by NatGeo to show a repertoire of this nature,” stated the Director General of IICA, Víctor M. Villalobos, during the inauguration of the exhibition.

In addition to photographs, the exhibition includes floor graphics with historical data on food production and consumption in different countries around the world.

The exhibition is the result of an agreement signed between National Geographic and IICA to raise awareness of the importance of taking action to strengthen global food security.

The IICA-NatGeo photo collection will be housed at Headquarters for two years.
