The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) has announced the fourth edition of its Digital Agriculture Week (DAW), scheduled to take place from September 22 – 25 in San Jose, Costa Rica. The initiative aims to foster greater coordination among AgTech startups; public and private financial organizations, national research institutes, technology companies and public authorities, to fast-track the digital transformation of agrifood systems in the Americas.

One hundred million small-scale farmers in the Americas, Africa and India will receive training in the fundamental principles of regenerative agriculture, through an extraordinary joint effort between Bayer and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). Courses will be delivered in five languages, including Swahili and Hindi.

A campaign to express appreciation to and recognize the work of farmers and food chain workers who, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, guarantee food production, transportation, commercialization and supply in countries throughout the Americas.
IICA is committed to giving visibility to the role of women and accelerating the development of sound public policies for the benefit of women who live in the countryside. To this end, the Institute has included the topic of rural women as a cross-cutting issue in its 2018-2022 Medium-term Plan.
Each edition of the ECLAC-FAO-IICA joint report analyzes the main trends that affect agriculture and impact the lives of rural dwellers, and provides an outlook on possible future scenarios with respect to each topic covered by the document.
