While the situation varies across different areas and droughts persist in some regions, climatic conditions for agricultural production have been improving in the Southern Cone and now offer positive prospects in much of the territory, according to a report prepared by specialists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

The need to make visible the advances in the region's agricultural activity in favor of greater sustainability and to strengthen coordinated action against environmentally-motivated international trade barriers were the main topics of a working meeting of agriculture ministers and high-level authorities that make up the Southern Agricultural Council (CAS).

To promote the use of biodigestion technologies, share successful experiences, and promote public policies to advance towards sustainable agrifood systems, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Network for Biodigesters in Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBioLAC) and the WISIONS of Sustainability Program, which operates under the aegis of Germany’s Wuppertal Institute, have launched the course “Application of biodigestion for the agroecological and bioeconomic transformation of agrifood systems in Ibero-America.”
